Very early in the morning you will depart your hotel in Puerto Barrios for your drive to the Copan Valley, en route you will stop at the site of Quirigua whose history was closely linked to that of Copan, you will spend about 2 hours getting to know this small yet very interesting site. A picnic style lunch is included on your tour of Quirigua today; afterwards head on to the Honduran border, from there, the Copan National Park is just 12 Kms. away. Here you will meet with your local guide who will give you the tour of Copan. After your tour you may visit the Copan Sculpture Museum to appreciate in its entire splendor one of Copan 's most important temples, Rosalila, in a life size scale replica with full coloring. On day 1 very early in the morning you will depart your hotel in Puerto Barrios for your drive to the Quirigua Archaeological Park, the history of this site was closely linked to that of Copan, you will spend about part of the morning getting to know how closely related were these two sites. A picnic style lunch is included on your tour of Quirigua today; after lunch head on to the Honduran border, from there, the Copan National Park is just 12 Kms. away. You will have the afternoon off to explore the quiet town of Copan Ruinas. On day 2 after breakfast your local guide will take you to the park for your tour of the park. Lunch is included in your tour today at the site restaurant. After lunch you will visit the Copan Sculpture Museum to appreciate some of the most important treasures to come from the course of investigations at Copan for more than 100 years of digging & study. After your tour your driver will take you back to your hotel On day 3 you may enjoy our birding tour with our expert naturalist guide, he will take you on a walking tour around Copan Ruinas where you will get a chance to observe some of the 300+ resident species of the winged inhabitants of this land. On day 1 early in the morning take a fast boat from your hotel to the Chocon Machacas Reserve where you will learn all about the gentle giants living in Rio Dulce, here you will enjoy some trekking, and get some great photo opportunities of the surrounding wildlife, and if the conditions are right and the manatees are feeling social you may photograph or even pet one of this amazing & gentle creatures. After your tour take a fast boat back to El Relleno where your driver will be waiting for you to take you to the Honduran border. After crossing the border you will take a short drive to the town of Copan Ruinas , enjoy the rest of the afternoon to get to know this quiet little town, get to know the local restaurants, the market or any of the souvenir shops around the town. On day 2 your guide will take you on a tour of the Copan National Park, you will walk among the “forest of stone trees” in the Great Plaza of Copan, here you will learn about the 16 rulers to hold office in Copan, how each left his mark for all to see, and how they succeeded so that even today, after more than a thousand years after these building were built they still stand and some still hold the original paint! Lunch is included with your tour today at the site restaurant. After lunch you will visit the Copan Sculpture Museum, and you will get more information of the ancient inhabitants of Copan through the remains found over the course investigations at the site, housed here are great works of art such as the Obsidian Eccentrics, these are representations of previous kings, that were used as the heads of scepters of staffs. After your visit your guide will take you back to your hotel.
