Structure 10L-4 was built in the Late Classic Period. This is the first structure that you can see when arriving at the site, a modestly sized pyramid-temple that has a stairway facing each of its 4 sides. During Maudslay's visit to the Copan Great Plaza, he excavated as well as photographed this part or the site. While digging through this small radial pyramid Maudslay came across rich offerings, and found that this structure possibly had its beginnings from the time of the founder Yax K'uk' Mo' or his son, as 3 meters below the surface the remains of a jaguar offering was found. It's a coincidence that a similar offering was found corresponding to the times of Yax Pasaj Chan Yoaat consisting of 15 jaguar skeletal remains near the famous Altar Q. |

This structure and all the “stone-trees” around it were the legacy of Waxaklajuun Ub'aah K'awiil, thus creating an unequaled view of Maya ritual and belief. His was, beyond doubt, one of the great artistic legacies of the pre-Columbian world.

Structure 8 also dates to the Late Classic Period, this is a small building located at the edge of the platform that holds the Great Plaza, next to Temple 11. This building is important due to a beautiful stone bench found within the building. Its exact purpose is not known but the presence of such a beautiful piece of art attests to its importance.
